Recently my husband brought me this pair of pants – one of his favorite, most comfy pairs – because of a small rip he’d gotten in the thigh area.

So I decided to fix them for him! I’ve fixed ripped jeans before by hand sewing a patch behind the rip (tutorial HERE) – but this time I DID NOT feel like hand sewing. 😉

So I pulled out the sewing machine and fixed them with a zigzag stitch. I videoed the process for you, so you can watch how I fixed this rip in the video below.

But first, as always, here’s what you’ll need:

What you need

  • ripped pants you want to fix
  • small amount of fabric to use as a patch (I used cotton shirting)
  • thread matching the pants you are fixing
  • basting tape (you could also use a glue stick – it washes out beautifully!)
  • scissors
  • sewing machine and needle

Alright, and now for the tutorial!
