As a sewist, my fabric scrap problem is real! I had a large garbage bag and a huge bin FULL of scraps… and I finally decided to do something about it. Mostly because those scraps were taking up A LOT of space in my sewing room closet.

I didn’t want to just throw all those scraps away, so I started searching for ideas and came across the Closet Core Floor Pouf sewing pattern. It’s a free pattern from Closet Core patterns and it is the ULTIMATE scrap buster! If you want to get the pattern yourself, you can sign up to get it HERE. Anyways, I made the floor pouf from some old jeans that I had sitting in a pile (also in my sewing room closet…). Then, I just stuffed that thing FULL of as many of my fabric scraps as possible! I didn’t expect it to hold more than half my scraps but I was way wrong. That thing used up about 3/4 of my scraps, which was great!

Here’s how the pouf turned out:

I am super happy with how it turned out! And with how many scraps it used! We’ve been using it basically every day since I made it – it was a great addition to our living room. Even my husband loves it, which I find funny since his response when I first told him what I was making was, “Do we have room for that?”.

This was such a success actually, that I may make another one soon and just use it as a scrap bin until it’s full – then I’ll have another one that I can either keep or give away.
