Once you start really getting into sewing your own clothes – and especially sewing swimwear – you’re going to probably find yourself wanting to turn a fabric tube right sides out. You’ll definitely need to when making straps and ties for swimwear and tank tops, and for making long ties for lace-up details.

Now the easiest way to turn your straps right sides out is to use a loop turner or a bodkin. BUT if you don’t have either of those tools, you can just use a plain old safety pin! I used a safety pin for all my ties and straps for years before finally buying a loop turner (and a bodkin… because I just have WAY too many sewing supplies).

This method will work for turning any fabric tube that is wide enough to fit a safety pin. And it works for both wovens and knits!
