Today I have another swimsuit sew-a-long for you! This one is the Chic Bandeau bikini top from Swim Style Patterns. I’m not going to sugar coat it, this project was not an easy one! The instructions for this pattern were extremely hard to understand and follow… which is why I thought a video tutorial would be helpful! I actually looked for a sew-a-long video or blog post after reading the pattern instructions, but couldn’t find one. So of course, I made one myself! 😉

Here’s how mine turned out!

All in all, I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. There are definitely a few changes I’ll make before I sew this pattern up again:

  • I’ll adjust the fit of the cups a bit, I need to add some volume to the upper cup and take out a bit of volume in the lower cup
  • I’ll make the lower band shorter – it was a bit loose on me, and I didn’t like how much it puckered with the elastic, so I think making the band itself a bit shorter would be helpful
  • Next time I’ll use shorter underwires – the ones I used came right up to the very top of the bikini, so the channeling shows a bit more than I’d like

But despite those few changes I’ll make next time, I’m still really happy with the result I got on my first try! It’s definitely wearable and pretty cute!

Now it’s time for the video tutorial – and I linked up all the supplies I used (fabric and notions) below the video.
